So where do I begin? Well, it all started a small network of toy stores and they have been an absolute blessing.
We met during a joint give-away and we were in a group chat organizing our donations and the logistics of sharing. That group chat evolved into business discussions. I saw businesses, established and new, all sharing their knowledge and experience with one another and I was really touched. Owning a small business can be lonely. I decided the collegiality was something I craved. On a whim I asked if any of the others would like to join a business group with me? Within minutes I had put together a Facebook group and shared the link.
This magazine has been a work in progress for well over two years. It started as a single idea which evolved. I brainstormed ideas for content and once my creative brain started ticking over, the ideas kept coming. Before I knew it, I had a list of 30 theme ideas. 30 ideas to help us connect with our customers and promote children’s learning through play. It’s a great way for us to advocate for quality toys and educational resources. But which idea do we start with?
I wanted to start with a topic that was fun and playful. As a child I always loved playing with small worlds. Small world play is perfect because it’s open-ended and is accessible to every budget. It can be thematic and evolve with children as they grow from toddlerhood through to to school age.
This makes small world play, the perfect topic for our first edition.
